This anime passes the first criterion in episode 1, the second in episode 2 and third in episode 3. The conversations are not frequent or non-trivial though.

  1. Are there two named female characters?
  2. Who have a conversation?
  3. Not about men?
  4. Does this happen frequently?
  5. Is the conversation non-trivial?

This fate instalment managed to get up to a C. There were plenty of female-female conversations in this show, but since most of the masters were male and the protagonist was male, most of them revolved around guys in the end. This is a slight improvement in female representation over previous fates, but clearly not enough to bump it up on the Bechdel test. The women would actually have to be independent characters for that!

Anyway, Shaft’s presentation of this fate was visually cool. The T.M. Revolution opening was nice, but as with a few fate adaptations, unless you’re knowledgeable about the fate verse, you won’t know what exactly is going on, ever. That the series was partially in the dementia category did not help the clarity of storytelling.
